8 Screen-Free Bath-Time Activities Kids Will Actually Want to Try

You do not need to turn every bath into a three-hour craft project. Sometimes one small idea is enough to get a reluctant child through the bathroom door — and give everyone something to talk about other than hair washing.

These screen-free bath-time activities use simple prompts and Myia Cosmetics products. Pick one per bath, follow the individual product directions and keep an adult beside the bath throughout.

1. Paint, dry, then fizz

Use a Paint Your Own Bath Bomb as the activity before the bath.

Let your child choose a design, paint the bath bomb with the six colours and brush supplied, then allow it to dry. When it is ready, place it into warm bath water and watch the artwork turn into fizz.

Try a theme if they are stuck:

  • rainbow stripes
  • spots and swirls
  • favourite football colours
  • “the silliest bath bomb in Lancashire”

The shape and scent may vary, so always check the physical product label before use.

2. Run a mini colour laboratory

Turn the bath into a supervised experiment with the unscented Mad Science Bath Salts.

Before adding the salts, ask your little scientist to make a prediction:

  • Which colour will spread fastest?
  • Will the water look lighter or darker?
  • What new colour might appear if the instructions allow two colours to meet?

Use one tube or less depending on the bath and desired effect, as stated on the product page, and rinse the bath afterwards.

3. Open a pixie potion lesson

The unscented Pixie Potion Bath Salts turn pouring and colour watching into a tiny make-believe lesson.

Ask your child to name the potion before it goes into the water. Is it for invisible wings, giggles or talking to bath ducks? Keep the story magical while being clear that the salts are a cosmetic bath product and must never be tasted.

4. Give them the tools

Some children enjoy bath time more when they have a job. Pair Myia’s Mini Experiment Kit with a suitable Myia Cosmetics bath fizz, crumble or salts product.

The reusable tools can be used for supervised scooping, pouring and mixing. Ask your child to make three tiny cups of different shades or count how many spoonfuls they use within the product directions.

The kit contains tools only, not bath products. Keep every piece out of mouths, rinse the tools after use and dry them fully before storage.

5. Tell a story from one of Myia’s worlds

Choose Dino World, Pixie World, Mad Science World, Farmyard World or Dream World, then build a story while the product fizzes.

Use three questions:

  1. Who lives in this world?
  2. What has gone wrong today?
  3. How will your child save the day before the bath ends?

There are no wrong answers. CEO Myia would probably add at least one extremely bossy character.

6. Become a colour detective

Before adding a bath bomb or bath fizz, ask your child to inspect it without opening or crumbling it unnecessarily. What colours can they spot? What do they predict the water will look like? Does the colour change as the product dissolves?

For younger children, keep it simple: name three colours. For older children, ask them to describe shades, patterns and what happened first, next and last.

7. Try a bath-time countdown

Some children cope better when they can see an activity ending. Choose a bath bomb and make the fizz your timer:

  • Watch it begin.
  • Count ten big bubbles.
  • Choose a wash task while it dissolves.
  • Finish with one final rinse and the usual getting-out song.

This will not suit every product or every child, but it can make the order of bath time feel easier to follow.

8. Let them choose the bath-time world

Create two simple options before the bath: perhaps “Pixie or Science?” or “Paint or Fizz?” Let your child choose one product and one activity.

Keeping the choice small avoids emptying the whole bathroom cupboard into one bath. It also gives your child a sense of ownership without handing over the entire evening routine.

Keep the fun supervised

Myia Cosmetics products are for ages 3+ with adult supervision. Read and follow the exact product label, keep products and tools away from eyes and mouths, and stop use if irritation occurs. The bath may become slippery, so take care and rinse it after use. Only use age-appropriate, bath-safe accessories and stay with your child throughout.
